Beauty as God’s Mission

What has recently stirred something in you through your relationships, nature, art, worship, or an ordinary moment? Hold that thought as you reflect through today’s prayer guide. Receive it as a gift from God and see that it holds divine presence and purpose.

Beauty Stirs

Psalm 27:4

“One thing I ask from the Lord… that I may gaze on the beauty of the Lord.”

Romans 1:20

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities… have been clearly seen.”

Reflection

God often awakens hearts through beauty. A sunrise, a shared meal, music, laughter, kindness, or a holy moment in the ordinary can remind us that He is near. Beauty God’s language. We just need to tune in and see the creator behind the creation, the mover behind the movement.

Pray

Lord, You have been speaking the language of beauty since the dawn of time. You spoke through rainbows and burning bushes, through whispers and wild hollows, through a garden where Mary heard her name. Awaken us again. Open our eyes to wonder, gratitude, and Your nearness. Stir our hearts to notice where You are already moving.

Beauty Shapes

2 Corinthians 3:18

“We all… beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image.”

Isaiah 61:3

“To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes.”

Reflection

God does not simply stir our souls to the point of awe, so we have pleasant feelings, or a great experience. He has a divine purpose for these transcendent moments. Our Creator uses encounters with His goodness to heal, restore, and transform us. Beauty can strengthen what the world has drained away and renew what life has worn thin. As gaze upon God in wonder, He reshapes us into His likeness. He renews our strength.

Pray

Lord, shape me through what I see and receive from You. Restore what has become weary in me. Replace ashes with beauty, fatigue with renewal, and striving with peace. Remind me of who I am and whose I am when the world and the work wear me down.

Beauty Sends

Acts 17:27

“God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him.”

Matthew 5:16

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Reflection

Consider that our experiences with awe and beauty are never meant to stop with us. When we encounter God in a powerful way, we are transformed. We are sent into the world to help others see God already at work in their own lives. We reflect His image when we love, affirm, and recognize the dignity in one another. What people are longing for has a name. God may be inviting you to stand in that doorway with them.

Pray

Lord, show me where You are already at work. Make me attentive to the longing in the people around me. Show me who is searching for hope, belonging, or truth, and give me courage to join You in reaching them. Give me courage to speak your name out loud to them. Glorify your name in me.

Beauty stirs us.

Beauty shapes us.

Beauty sends us.

Go this week attentive to the God who is already present and already at work.
